I don’t care who you are, where you’re from or what you do because everyone at some point in their lives has experienced STATE. It’s a feeling where you feel fucking unstoppable. You feel like you can take on the world and absolutely nothing can get in your way, and it starts the very moment you get up. Everything goes RIGHT and you just make shit happen.
But these very people have also experienced something we’ll call LOW-STATE. This is (obviously) the complete opposite of everything I just wrote about in the previous paragraph. Now isn’t that weird? One day you can feel like the king and the next day you feel like a little piece of shit… not able to accomplish a single task in your vegetative state.
So what if I were to tell you that I’ve found some ways to change your state on the days you feel dull. I’m not promising that you’ll be able to take over the world everyday but at least you won’t dip into LOW-STATE. Would you be excited? Yeah I bet you would, which is why I’m going to tell you my top techniques on how to pump up your state and not come across as a loser douchebag.
1. Morning Ritual
There is a very good reason this step is in the first spot… it’s THE MOST IMPORTANT. I’m FJ, I don’t do things without reason (Ok maybe with the exception on Saturday nights). You need a solid morning ritual that you consistently follow every-single-day. It has to be almost robotic.
Now I know what you’re thinking… “how is this going to pump up my state? Doing the same thing over and over again is boring!” Well yeah, it is boring if what you’re doing is boring. Fucking duh! What you need to do is sit down and design a 60 minute ritual that you like and that is revolved around success. It should have everything needed to help you jump start your day.
Here are a few key elements you might want to throw into your morning ritual:
- Breakfast
- Healthy Beverage (Coffee, Green Tea, Fresh Squeezed Vegetable Juice etc.)
- A Shower!
- Relaxation/Meditation Period (No funky shit, just deep breathing exercises and the like)
- Exercise? (This isn’t for everyone… I like working out at night but if you can squeeze in a morning workout, there is nothing like it. I forcefully wake up from time to time just to do a morning workout)
2. Health
This is SO obvious but judging by the looks of our population, not many are doing anything about it. Let’s say you have a fitness goal… whether it’s losing 20lbs or getting jacked full of muscle doesn’t matter. What matters is this: Can you even imagine what it feels like to REACH your goals? The confidence spike and the boost in self-esteem is OUT OF THIS WORLD.
You try and tell a girl who just lost 50lbs that she’s worth nothing… it wont’ work. She won’t even flinch because she KNOWS the amount of work she’s done to get to where she’s at. And no fucking chode muttering some random crap to her is going to make a difference.
Staying healthy and NOT getting sick is a sure-fire way of guaranteeing that your state stays elevated day-in and day out. The joy of having your sweat-equity pay off is second to none.
3. Appearance
Do you know what confident people have that losers don’t? Self respect. This shines through in every aspect of their life. So to project your confident self (even if you’re an insecure loser) you need to take care of your appearance and look your best. Whatever that may mean for your body type. Can you remember the feeling and the presence you had when you put on a pair of new jeans and shirt? (or a dress, ladies) Yeah we need to take advantage of that.
Now, I’m not saying go on a shopping spree, but get rid of obnoxious clothing you look terrible in. Get a sense of style, and show yourself off in a way where you FEEL like the shit. If you don’t know anything about style, seek help. The people working in department stores want to sell… so they will obviously go out of their way to make sure you find something that puts a 10 mile wide smile across your face.
4. Optimism
No one (not even your deep inner self) likes to be around a negative, energy draining little prick. It’s uncomfortable, it’s needy and very pathetic. Not to mention it’s atrocious at keeping your state up. So change that and start being optimistic. You don’t have to be self deceiving, but find the positive angles in anything that comes up in life. And I know, I get it… bad shit happens to everyone. It’s how you deal with it that matters.
Got fired from work? Great, maybe now you have time to pursue your TRUE passion that you’ve been putting off for so god damn long.
Girlfriend/Boyfriend cheated on you? Great, stop being a pussy, end that shit and realize that you are now single, which means you now have OPTIONS. Relationships are over-rated anyways.
I did this messed up little exercise once where I put forth the most absurd and horrendous scenarios that could happen to me. Then I tried to find a positive angle for each one. No doubt, some were tough as hell but eventually, through enough digging, I plucked out something redeeming. So don’t fucking tell me it can’t be done.
5. Your Personal Support Group
This one is easy… if you follow (of have decided to follow) the 4 steps above than you are now considered a valuable person… and a valuable, confident person never wastes their time hanging around complete losers. If you make an effort to be a positive energetic person, then why the hell would you let that awesomeness be leeched by some fucker who can’t get his shit together? It makes no sense. Eliminate negative, un motivated people from your life and surround yourself with those that YOU want to be like.
We are a product of our surroundings and whether you like it or not that’s a fact you can’t change. What you CAN change however, is your surrounding – so why wouldn’t you?
6. Have A Purpose Or A Passion
This technique is not in the 6th spot because it’s the least important – but because I wanted to end off with a hot bang (not like an orgy though, more like a gun shot). Anyways, as I was saying… you NEED AN ULTIMATE GOAL OR PASSION IN LIFE. Can you guess what MY purpose and passion is? It’s not that hard – To be a successful fitness entrepreneur on the web and in person. This leads to many different goals that need to be fulfilled in order to reach my purpose, and sometimes I have to do things I don’t feel like doing. However, all this stuff never clouds my vision and I never forget my purpose.
I mean how can I? It’s the reason I wake up everyday. It’s the reason I get pissed off when my body feels tired and needs to sleep but my mind is still racing and wants to go on. It drives me and it keeps me in a STATE where I can kick some serious ass. It’s a never-ending source of motivation and it will let you achieve things you never though possible, because once you’re in state, impossible truly IS a piece of cake.

Ah.. This is kind of complimentary to my Brain food post FJ. And Some may state that mental health is first before building physical heal.
Strong mind = Strong body and vice versa

Hey buddy, found you over on PB.com.
I heard some great advice at a Dan John strength workshop not too long ago. I’ve never forgotten it.
He said, “The goal is to keep the goal the goal.” That’s it. Meaning, once you’ve chosen a goal, don’t get distracted by anything else. All of your efforts and behaviors have to match that one goal or it’s no longer the goal.
That’s how I stick to my guns. There are days when you punch the clock. That’s where real progress comes from. Not every day is PR day. But that’s ok. Most people don’t have enough patience to stick to something for a month, let alone the years it might take to do something real.

Heh, I kinda like that quote. Not only because it’s true but it bitch slaps you with the word “goal” over and over again. Repetition is the key to success in SO many areas it’s not even funny. Well… maybe in comedy.

I’m only here because I’ve made myself FJ’s personal stalker. LOL…no, but really…I find that when I feel confident, i.e., I look good, I’ve gotten enough sleep, I just drove past Mickey D’s without stopping…I feel really good inside. Like I won some kind of battle with my inner self. Oh, and yeah, more pics. Nekkid ones.

Even though I’ve never called it “STATE” I guess I’m almost in STATE 90% of the time now. I exercise 5 times a week, eat healthy, get plenty of sleep, and keep up with my personal hygiene! I think when you take care of yourself, it can become a natural byproduct, especially once you can see the NEGATIVE options of not taking care of yourself.

Yep, having a routine like that will pretty much guarantee that you state will be pumped, your mind will be clear and you’ll be able to out perform any whacko who does jack shit on his couch. Good stuff.
