So, I’m going off on a little bit of a tangent here today. Besides reviewing just supplements, I’m also going to be putting fitness products through some tests… MY TESTS! What we have on our hands today is a weight-tracking software for Windows users (take that Mac!) that helps you predict, track and visually see your progress when it comes to weight loss or even weight GAIN! (Yup, us “meat-heads” can use this tool effectively too)
Let’s start off with what the company has to say…
Product Features & Claims:
My Weight Software is Windows Software that tracks and charts body weight and waist measurements
1. Reminds you to weigh yourself and measure your waist
Decide when and how often you want to weight yourself and measure your waist. My Weight Software will remind you with an alert in your computer’s System Tray.
2. Record and chart your weight and waist numbers
Enter your weight and optionally your waist into My Weight Software. Quicker than using pen and paper! (and you won’t lose it!) It will automatically record the date and time for you. If you wish you can add extra information. For example, started a new diet, changed medication or unwell. Add anything that is relevant to your weight into My Weight Software.
3. Create a personalized weight loss chart
Create a personalized chart with your weight and waist measurements and your target weight. A great visual tool for you to see the progress you are making.
- My Weight Software can be used with any diet or weight loss regime.
So, if you are counting carbohydrates, fat, calories or keeping a food diary My Weight Software will help you loose the weight you want to.
- My Weight Software will keep you motivated.
Charting your progress and comparing it to you target weight is a motivating and exciting way to track your goals. You can also print out your chart to present information to your doctor or health clinician to highlight your progress.
- My Weight Software will show you how to loose weight.
My Weight Software will help you determine your target weight for a date in the future. It will chart for you how much weight to loose (and how!) each week to get to the target. So, if you need to wear an outfit for a party coming up, My Weight Software will show you how to get there.
- Tracking your waist measurement.
The size of a person’s waist or waist circumference is an indicator of overall health. Excess abdominal weight is a risk factor for developing heart disease, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure and other obesity related diseases. It is suggested to record and chart waist measurement in addition to weight.
Real World Results:
So it seems simple enough, and truth be told it is. I love ease-of-use, and when it comes to My Weight Software, it’s all aces baby. Now the nitty-gritty: Here is the home-screen when you boot up the software. There are 6 main areas that you are going to be working with: 1. Enter Measurements 2. View Entries 3. View Charts 4. Calorie Tool 5. View Events 6. Options
I’ll be going into detail on each of the specific areas and how useful they are to your weight loss/gain goals.

Weight Software Home
As far as first impressions go, I liked it - the clean look of the software along with the fact that you can have multiple users. I have started using this tool to keep track of a few clients and it was GREAT to see it all visually laid out. Before I used to have a word document with just pure numbers. Looked like an accountant’s balance sheet… what a headache. Anything that makes life easier on my end is a plus. I also love the little news section at the bottom, it will keep you updated with the most relevant information and happenings when it comes to health. If you don’t like to know about the outside world though, you can turn the news feed off in the options. Power to the people!
This software also has this nifty reminder feature where a tiny bubble pops up from your task bar reminding you to enter your weekly (Or daily) weight and waist measurements. This will SURELY come in handy for the forgetful. Now let’s look at the first area of this software…
1. Enter Measurements – Pretty straight forward here, you enter the Date, Time, Weight (lbs or kg) & Waist (inches or cm) along with a few notes. It will then put it into the entry and also in the projection graph which we’ll get to in a second.

2. View Entries – Again, straight forward stuff. This area of the software vertically lists every measurement entry starting from oldest to newest. It shows all the info that you enter in the measurement section but in a more compressed format. It is also customizable as you can view by: date, weight, waist size or time. You can even see a little blurb about your notes – a nice touch.
3. View Charts - This is where shit starts to get impressive. You can select a target weight and date after which it will automatically calculate 3 different projections that you can aim for. The projections basically have 3 different ”intensities”. One is dramatic, the next is medium and the third one is more of a gradual change. After playing around with some projections and bringing in my experience, I can tell you that they are WELL calculated!
So how do you know you’re on track? Well as you start to enter in your weekly or daily measurements it will show them up as a blue dotted line against the calculated projections. All you have to do is make sure you’re meeting the guidelines and busting your butt by hitting your projected goal every week.
Just for fun, I told it that I wanted to be 350lbs and apparently… at a gain of 1lbs per week, I’ll get there by 15/09/2013. Sweet deal!
But It also told me that my BMI would be OFF THE CHARTS. =) Speaking of BMI, most of you know that I don’t REALLY believe in that, but as far as the software is concerned, I can tell you its fairly accurate and that’s what were looking for here. A mis-calibrated weight loss/gain software will not only hinder your progress but might become a health hazard. We can’t have that.

4. Calorie Tool - This is another nifty feature that I liked. Basically it will take any projected weight and spit it out into realistic terms. So for example, let’s say you want to know what a weekly change of 2lbs will equate to. Well it equates to a calorie deficit of 1000 per day… which is basically:
153 mins of aerobics
12.5 servings of apples
150 mins of tennis
5.6 servings of beer
etc…
5. View Events - What are events? Well according to it’s user manual: “An event is a date and a description of what happened on that date. Optionally an event can also have a finish date. Each row displays an event, the weight or waist size level at the time of the event, the change in weight or waist size since the event (or to the finish date if the event has a finish date), and the weekly rate of change…”
I should also mention that My Health Software provides a “locker” service that you use to securely upload and backup your important weight data on a secure web server. Should your computer crash, get a virus, explode or vanish into thin air, you can rest easy knowing that your measurement data is SAFE. The cost is an extra $9.95 for a year’s worth of backup data. If you are serious about your info, It’s something you might want to look into.
Conclusion:
Overall I found this piece of software to be quite useful. Judging from its appearance & pure simplicity, I (at first) thought it would be a waste of time, and something that would never be able to replace my simple word document tables, but in all honesty, it makes life easier and seeing your weight go in-line with the targeted projections is quite motivating. It’s also prime knowing that the program is accurate & easy to use.
But, is it all sunshine and honey dip? NOPE! I do have a few features that I’d like to see, and since its always being updated, there is a high probability that these will make it into the software in the future.
1. Food Log -I believe this is needed! It would be nice to have a calendar style layout with a very organized table/chart or whatever where a person can enter the foods they had everyday. It should then automatically calculate and total up the essentials like: Calories, Protein, Carbohydrates, Fats, Sodium & Essential Vitamins. Seeing a daily breakdown of your meal plan is something that will help you see the bigger picture. If I’m working with someone and they’re not losing weight at the pace that I expect, 95% of the time I can spot their douchebaggery when I look into their daily food log… it doesn’t lie!
2. List Of The Most Popular Foods -This one will go a looong way by helping people enter the info in their food logs. I’ve seen some stand-alone food log softwares that have a bazzilion different items that you’ll most likely find in the grocery store. All you do is select, add and all the info is right there. I doubt the info for this is hard to collect either.
And… that’s about it! Besides those 2 nit-picks, this is an awesome piece of software. Highly Recommended! Download your free trial.
