Yeah exactly. Cold and wet... heh in Canada were like that for half the year anyways, no biggie what-so-ever. But you learn to love it. You learn to embrace it, and grow stronger because after being in countless snowball fights... it all becomes second nature.

Brother awesome way of laying it out. I remember this guy who wanted to join the marathon team, at first I was like cool, right training starts and the n he comes out with excuses straight away.

Sometimes the idea or appeal is what they are attracted to and not actually knuckling down and getting on with it.

As Mitch says we all hit a point when we think.... hmmm, but it's that point that defines you. Me, I love taking it to that point.

My old training Major said, if you really want to voluteer for a course, then do it when you are cold, wet and hungry, only then will you truely know what you want.

@Mitch
You mean the black ones? Those are the achievement and avoidance lines. One is going towards the other one is going away from the goal. I'll agree, this concept isn't simple, you might wanan re-read the 3 paragraphs under the diagram.

But once it sinks in, it clings to you like a leech and never let's go. Power shit this is.

Hey FJ, great post. You talk about the most motivated people ppl reaching that decision point...even Jesus reached that point when he prayed to his father in the garden to remove the task of crucifixion. So if he hit, we ALL will hit it.

Thanks for shining some light on this for me.

BTW, what do the lines going to either the top or bottom of the goal mean?

Hi FJ

Found you through Marco Saric. I like your no-nonsense style. And I think you are bang on with the avoidance thing.

Wow, you hit the nail right on the head!

This is actually something that I have been struggling with. I am usually very motivated and when I hit that point of resistance I have been getting very confused. I questioned my motivation in the first place.

Now I can reinterpret the whole situation and realize that my antimotivation is just a bullshit excuse to run away from what i have set out to do.

Thanks FitJerk, this will help me push past some sticking points of mine.
