Today is a glorious day – and not just because it’s a Sunday, though that is most definitely awesome in it’s own right. No, today marks the day where social media and the fitness niche finally combine into a one harmonious creation. What I’m about to reveal to you is a project I’ve been hard at work on for the past month with my good buddy JC (jcdfitness.com) and we call it, Fitmarker.
“What exactly is it?”
FitMarker is a site that allows you to share & discover the best fitness information the web has to offer! You can submit, share, vote and talk to each other on everything that has to do with getting in fantabulous shape and feeling like a gazillion bucks. In a sense, you can think of it as the new “Digg” of the fitness world, and we’ve got some serious supporters backing us up. Expect to hear about this site everywhere… when FJ & Friends do anything, they like to go big!
“Why does the world need this FJ? We’ve got you!”
When it comes to covering health and fitness related info, no one site can cover it all (nope, not even mine). Which is why there is a huge need for a place where people can hang out, share and ravel in some of the best content on the web. And here’s the best part, the users decide what is good, and what isn’t!
I cannot emphasise that enough. This site is designed from the ground up to be user driven, and to give the power to the people. This means you have a say in what is awesome and what is not. Didn’t like an article on fat loss? “Dump” it. Loved a certain article on pullups? “Pump” it. It’s just that simple. Oh and you can also comment, private message others, earn points and badges as you go along.
Wait there’s one more thing that was supposed to make this experience even better. I seem to have forgotten. Oh no, I remember… PRIZES! That’s right, the most active users will win exclusive prizes at the end of every month. So far, we’re planning on giving away prizes for the first 3 months… and don’t think for a minute that these are some lame fluff give-aways. The prizes are going to be REAL fitness products delivered straight to your doorstep.*
“Can’t I just get my fitness info from general social media sites?”
Well duh, of course you can. But normal sites like Digg and Stumble are lame-as-shit when it comes to quality fitness info. I mean, I’m a huge Stumble fan, but when I need to find REAL fitness info (not some lame story covered on CNN), then I have to go hunt around for hours. With Fitmarker, when you find a quality fitness article, you can bookmark it and share it… And thousands of others will be doing the exact same thing. Eventually, when there is a fitness question you need answered, all you’ll have to do is look it up on Fitmarker and I’ll guarantee you’ll find the answer!
“Does it cost anything to join?”
Hell no. Fitmarker is and always will be free to use for anyone and everyone.
So whatcha waiting for? Head on over to Fitmarker and start playing around. Share articles, comment, start discussions, send naughty private messages to others and pump articles you find interesting. Anything goes. Me and JC have taken great care to throw up some killer content so you’ll already have some cool stuff to check out from some really talented fitness writers.
And if you care about juicy details and want to know the whole philosophy behind the site and how we got started, read up on JC’s awesome little writeup: The Digg of the Fitness Niche? – FitMarker fills the Social Media Void
I’ll see you there.
