You know, with all the hoo-haa about going “primal” and “organic” people are now starting to believe that it’s ridiculous to apply technological advancements to the foods we eat. And that is just retarded. I mean yes, the rise of boxed processed foods isn’t doing much for our species but that’s not the only thing technology is being used for. That’s the “BAD”. But how about the good?
Well one achievement that just fascinated the hell outta me was the latest protein supplement from All American EFX. LBA stands for Liquid Beef Amino Acids… so it’s beef protein that has been turned into this chocolaty syrup. How they managed this is beyond me… but they have. And if there is one category of supplements that gets me most excited – it’s the protein category. Protein is tried and true, and possibly the most anabolic substance on the fucking planet.
Before we dive into this liquid pool off beefy-ness, here’s the official word from EFX…
Product Claims:
LBA PRO is the protein/amino choice for anyone who wants to bring the big gains and not leave anything to chance. And with new Prota-Lyn® EHP rounding out this awesome formula, it’s seriously off the hook!
It’s critical that you keep a steady stream of amino acids flowing into your bloodstream to feed hungry muscle cells. In fact, you MUST be certain that more is going in… than out! It what’s known as your “Nitrogen Balance”. Just like your bank account, if more money drains out than comes in… you’re gonna end up flat broke!
It’s the same for building muscle. A negative nitrogen balance means your metabolic “bank account” is in the red. And this catabolic state just won’t cut it. To put it another way, you’re either building muscle or letting it get destroyed!
And that’s exactly where LBA PRO™ comes in…
Here’s the deal: Contrary to popular belief, you don’t need to jam gram after gram of protein down your throat to maintain a positive nitrogen balance.
You see, if you want rapid gains in muscle and strength, then you must understand it’s not the quantity of protein you ingest; it’s the quality. End of story!
LBA PRO™ is Cholesterol-Free and made from top-shelf, USDA beef. NOT cheap hydrolyzed gelatins, fillers or any other worthless sources.
By using a selective process to extract only the highest quality amino acids, LBA PRO™ is an amino acid source that’s quickly digested and absorbed into the bloodstream and muscle cells because of it smaller particle size.
First Impressions:
Let me just start off by saying that beef protein isn’t anything “new”. In fact if I’m not mistaken, this shit’s been around since the late 80’s. But the fact is that it’s not something crazy new, it’s just been re-introduced and re-popularized. The only thing that IS new here (as far as I i know) is the pre-made liquid format.
Usually beef protein comes in the same format as whey protein… a powder , but now you can get it in a convenient bottle (16.8 Oz) and pre mixed with an awesome flavor called “chocolate lava”. If you’ve ever had the pleasure of drinking your milk with Nesquick syrup, you’ll know what I’m talking about.
Ok now I want to talk about something exciting. The ingredients… or more specifically, the quality of. So in the company product description above, they stated how they only use the best USDA approved beef etc. But everyone can say that shit, how do you know that your product isn’t contaminated? Well to my surprise, All American EFX is the only company I’ve seen that sends a full contamination report with their product. They call it the “Certificate Of Analysis”. They do this for every batch to ensure that nothing but the ingredients on the label end up inside the bottle. Here check this out…

I was not only impressed by this but it was also a hilarious read. In the picture above, look at the 3rd word down in the Stimulant Testing section. “Cocaine – 0/g”. Aww man… I would love some Cocaine in my beef protein, too bad it’s not here. This is just scratching the surface though, the whole thing is two full pages of stimulant, steroid and microbiological tests to ensure that nothing crappy is in there. Before we get too carried away, you should know that most companies probably get this type of report from their manufacturing plant on every batch of supplement they make… but the difference here is that none of them SEND this report to the public.
So bravo to AAEFX for this. It’s nice to know that there isn’t any E.Coli or Salmonella in my beef protein… only some delicious awesome sauce.
Since this is beef protein, you can pretty much guarantee that it’s fucking amazing. This means you’ll find all of the needed amino acids in the bottle. There is a good reason why bodybuilders eat beef like it’s going out of style.

Alright, enough theory and enough talking, let’s get down to business and see how this thing tastes, performs and compares in terms of value.
Real World Results
Taste: You get 33 servings per bottle and each serving is supposed to be 1 Tablespoon (15ml). When you pour this stuff into a spoon, the viscosity really resembles chocolate syrup. But the smell… not exactly. Don’t get me wrong, there is definitely chocolate on the nose but it’s got that hint of “medicine” to it.

So when you down a spoon-full, the experience is quite the roller coaster ride for your taste buds. Every taste has 3 phases: The beginning, mid and end pallet (I got this from the wine guys), and that is how I’ll describe this stuff to ya.
When the syrup touches your tongue for the very first time, the taste is very sweet; but this is a syrup so you kind of expect that. Then there is the mid pallet… this is where the strong ass medicine/cough syrup type taste comes in to play. It’s not exactly unpleasant, but it’s not something Id personally look forward to.
But then there is the way the flavor finishes… it leaves your mouth with a massive chocolaty after taste. In fact, the after taste of this stuff is SO good, that you’ll want to keep taking it over and over just to experience it. No word of a lie.
If you have extremely shitty short term memory and you were to take some LBA PRO, then by the time the after taste hits, you’ll have forgotten that you took some liquid beef protein. It will seem like you downed a spoon full of Nesquick Chocolate Syrup. Amazing. I give it 4/5 on taste.

Speaking of chocolate syrup… I figured if Nesquick could be used with milk, why not LBA PRO? So I grabbed my ever-loving Blender Bottle, threw in a cup of 1% milk and squeezed a crap load of beef syrup in there. (You can see how the bottom of the bottle is brownish in the above pic)
The end result? HEAVENLY. This is good stuff. It mixes well and with milk and tastes great.
Performance & Value:
Alright let’s do some comparison shopping here. If you are all about beef protein, then you can either get this stuff, or the powered format from the dizzying number of online supplement stores. So which beef product is best?
I went online and pulled the closest match I could find. Here’s how it all breaks down.
| Products | AAEFX LBA PRO | Olympian Labs Beef Protein |
| Price | $19.97 | $14.99 |
| # Of Servings | 33 | 16 |
| Protein per serving | 6g | 23g |
| Total Protein | 198g/16.8 Oz bottle | 368g/ 1Lbs Tub |
So as we can see, if you get the beef powder from Olympian Labs, you’ll get about 368g of protein for $14.99 and if you get the LBA PRO, you’ll end up with 198g protein for $19.97. Seems like a no-brainer right?
Not so fast chumpkins… the Olympian Lab product is a powder and a 1lbs tub. Therefore a) It’s not exactly portable, and b) It’s not exactly convenient because you’ll need to carry around a shaker cup with pre-filled milk with you. I doubt you want to take spoon fulls of beef powder by itself.
On the other hand, the LBA PRO bottle can be tossed in the gym bag and you can literally flip it’s convenient lid, title the bottle into your mouth and squeeze a nice shot of protein down your throat. No mixing, no water or chaser needed. Convenience has value, therefore there is price to be paid for such value.
Conclusion:
So now we have to ask ourselves… is the convenience worth the extra price? I thought long and hard about this, because first and foremost, none of these would replace my traditional whey protein isolate for a post-workout shake. The LBA PRO would run too expensive and the Olympian Lab beef protein doesn’t come close to the 30g/per scoop awesomeness.
That means this protein is useful for doing 2 things: preventing catabolism, and providing a constant stream of protein to your muscles (since beef protein is much slower absorbing). Therefore, I personally would take it pre-workout and before bed time (which I’ve been doing and have been loving it).
This will also slow down the frequency at which you buy whey because it will cut down the servings you take… but on the other hand don’t think you’ll be saving cash cuz you DO have to buy this stuff. After much deliberation, I’m going to give LBA PRO an overall score of 3.9/5 – Quite respectable if you know how harsh I usually rate.
Don’t get me wrong. The LBA PRO is an excellent, high-quality product… but it’s uses are very specialized. If you are a SERIOUS athlete and/or bodybuilder, then I believe it’s a worth while investment – If only because it’s convenient and tastes awesome. But on the other hand if you’re just an average person that works out, there is no real NEED for this, specially when you can get whey protein for about $8/pound.
