I am using a modified Atkins dies ... 30 carbs a day max and keeping within the calorie, fat, sodium, etc levels recommended by both heart and diabetes charts (I don't have either hear or diabetes problems), plus I add in a little of all of the food groups recommended by nutritionists ... I just try to stay relatively low carb and high protein.According to Atkins, you only count net carbs, so you take away sugar alcohols and fiber from the total carbs and you have you net carbs. The large bar of peanut butter crunch is 10 net carbs for the whole thing and 390 calories. I break up a large bar into 4 pieces and have 1 piece in the afternoon for a snack and one piece in the evening for dessert. So, with the peaanut butter crunch bar, I am only using 5 carbs of my 30 per day and I feel like I've had a candy bar!My all time favorite is the carmel nut crunch. However, beware you do NOT buy the ORIGINAL if you are low carb. You must make sure the label says CARB CONSCIOUS.Including these bars in my daily diet has helped me not cheat! I think they have helped for sure and I would highly recommend them (1/2 a large bar per day) to anyone on a diet. I am losing weight like crazy and haven't really added much exercise yet because of a car accident (leg, shoulder & neck injuries)

Hi,

I am using the Supreme Protein bars as a dessert in my weight loss program. Only thing I can say for it is it helped me lose a little weight, because after one bite I felt like throwing up most of the day and could not stomach food.A seriously nasty creation.

I couldn’t help wondering if I was eating the same stuff.

I have a bar of “Supreme Protein Caramel Nut Chocolate”: and it tastes disgusting. Mainly these bars are meant for people that want to build muscle and bulk up. You got to remember these bars contain 30 grams of protein. What does protein do it adds mass to your muscles as long as your working out. I lift everyday and these bars make a great post workout meal.

@ Jose I would not eat these bars to lose weight. Sugar alcohol does not affect insulin responce in the body the way regular sugar does. Technicaly when you have a bar with fibre and sugar alcohol in it, your supposed to subtract both the sugar alcohol and the fibre from the total carb amount to get the 'real' insulin receptive carb content. This is the reason I eat these bars.

The reason its called a carb ‘conscious’ bar is due to the Sugar alcohols which are the main source of carb in the bar. Was interesting to see you are on top of your game, good honest review. I would say that while the carbs are high and their is some high sodium in this bar, the best way to counteract without harming your body would be to have this bar AFTER a workout. In a post workout situation, the carbs would be utilized by the muscles to replenish lost muscle glycogen, and the excess sodium would be used to help re-hydrate the body as sodium even in doses of around 500mg post workout is shown to be VERY beneficial in superhydrating the muscle cells with water due to lost water in a workout session. Hope this info may be useful to you and your readers. Great Job Fj!

FJ, Great read. Was interesting to see you are on top of your game, good honest review. These bars are deff morish, good if you are bulking but not so great if you are cutting. If you watch you sat fat intake with these bars should not have a problem... I have recenrly been reading on the internet that protein bars or should I say the companies that make them somtimes dont tell the truth to the ingredients listed and seems to be a marketing ploy that you have no choice to believe as you think if its a protein bar then must be healthy. From experience the nastier the taste of the bar the better it is for you.

I do agree with ross… these bars are a bit naughty with sat fat, I stick to the cookies and cream as has the least amount of sat fat and calories than the rest…
These bars are deff morish, good if you are bulking but not so great if you are cutting.
