Who Says You Can’t Spot Reduce?

Well actually, me and a shit load of other trainers have always preached the following: if you want to lean out, you will lean out in a way that your body WANTS to lean out… and you can’t do a damned thing about it. This means that if the umbilical region (belly) is the 1st choice for fat storage for YOUR body, then that’s where it will go. Then it will go on to the next site and the next site. So if you’ve let yourself “go” in the past and now want a 6pack… guess which section of the body is bound to let go of the fat near the end?

Hint: Reverse the order Sherlock!

So this means we have to rely on our genetics and some luck. Some people’s bodies prefer storing fat in the legs and arms before the belly region (lucky bastards) while others store it on their chest and back area first (this is good for chicks… bad for dudes). So what can you do if you don’t really care about the fat over your quads but want to “target” the fat over your stomach?

Well the answer used to be “nothing” or “surgery”. However, there is a new method that is changing all of this. It’s called Biosignature Modulation and it was created by one of the best strength coaches around, Charles Poliquin.

The idea behind it is as simple as it is genius. Charles has worked with top level athletes for the past 30 years (I’m talking NFL, NHL and Olympic level) and took all the empirical data of their fat levels and came up with a system where he could pinpoint which hormone in your body (such as insulin) is responsible for storing fat in a specific area. Then, through diet, exercise & supplementation (mainly diet and supplementation) he can adjust the culprit hormone levels so you end up losing fat and lean out in the areas that YOU want. No surgery required.

How fucking awesome is that? Now first of all, the process is obviously more complicated than my layman explaination, but I wanted to give you a brief overview. The Biosignature method is also something I’ve only read (a lot) about and have been following it’s development for years so I don’t want to talk too much out of my ass right now…

Which is why when I found out that there will be a seminar coming to my local gym, I jumped on the girl at the front desk… no wait, I jumped at the opportunity of hitting it up. It will be held this Saturday and I feel like Christmas has come early this time of year. I’ve always wanted to hit up the full-out Biosignature Modulation course and be a fully “certified” but that requires flying out to cities and a shit load of cash. It was on my “to-do” list and now I’ll be getting a big ass sneak peek into this whole mess.

… I feel sorry for the person giving this seminar. He/She is about to be absolutely ass raped with questions. But here is where YOU come in. While I have a boat load of questions that I’ll want to ask, I need to know if any of you have questions about Biosignature Modulation. If so, post em’ in the comments section below and I’ll try my best to make them answer it. I will then write that shit down and throw up a “Part 2” post.

The things I do for ya’ll…

    Wow! That sounds so cool!

Like the majority of people I’ve been used to hearing about how ‘spot reduction’ just doesn’t work and that you have to go for a level of overall fitness before it’ll ever get to that area… this sounds promising though, very slick.

My question would be about the side-effects of this though: If you’re changing your diet and supplements so that it doesn’t store in that area… where does it store? Or does your body just cease to store it? (I’m assuming not). Wondering if it might be worse overall than working your little heart out all over your body.

I could half answer this right now. The side effects would be similar to the supplements currently available right now at your local GNC. As far as I know, Biosignature doesn’t use any pharmaceutical level drugs… but I’ll bring the “side effects” issue into question for you.

Thanks FJ, looking forward to hearing what they have to say. (I’d thought it’d be something along those lines, just felt it was a question worth raising)

FJ, hey, can’t wait to hear more about this man. This is one of those underground things that hardly anyone knows or talks about. I’ve heard rumors and it just makes sense. Gonna go do my homework now. I look forward to part 2.

Hey FJ, awesome, I think I’ve read this in passing before but didn’t go into it because of everything else I read about spot reducing being impossible. Can’t wait for part 2!

    My question would be:

    1. How does this method differ for guys and girls. Coz I know testosterone is supposed to counter estrogene for fat storage somewhere but how do you expect girls to spike their T levels…that might result in some weird things happening, no?

    2. What are the side effects of countering the hormones. If your body produces a certain amount because it needs to then what happens when you try to spike up other hormones? Will there be side effects?

    Thanks FJ!

Well this idea has definitely peaked my interest, but I must say I’m a non-believer. I’ll believe it when I see it (the results that is). This is probably years away from true empirical evidence, and I’m imagining the layman will have a difficult time managing the dietary challenges.
    Good stuff though! Thanks

And so can see where raspredelyaetsya body fat genetic expertise is not needed, I doubt that different diets affect different parts of the body

That has yet to be seen. Update on the seminar was that the dumb girl at the counter gave me the wrong time and so by the time I showed up… it was over. But I don`t give up that ez so the questions posted here WILL be answered.
